Fortune’s new ranking of the 50 most powerful women in business has Indra Nooyi, the PepsiCo chief, topping the charts while Irene Rosenfeld and Pat Woertz hold the second and third places respectively.

The eleventh annual list brought out by Fortune of the fifty most powerful women in business is the 52-year old, Indian origin Indra Nooyi who heads the global beverage giant PepsiCo. Nooyi has brought around the company from falling domestic sales to expanding international operations which now make up around 26% of the company’s revenues.

Irene Rosenfeld who heads the Krafts Foods took the second position on the most powerful businesswomen list for steering the food and beverages giant through a difficult business climate. The third place was taken by Pat Woertz, chairperson, president and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland. Among other notable names in the top ten spots are Anne Mulcahy, Angela Braly, Andrea Jung, Susan Arnold as well as Oprah Winfrey.

The top 50 businesswomen list included a few notable firsts like the first woman to run a major US oil company and some superlatives like the youngest honoree to make the list. Other than these the list also witnessed the departure of the most-watched woman on Wall Street, Citi’s Sallee Krawcheck.
