Spine friendly seats are fetching more money from passenger’s pocket
A survey report conducted in 2008 summer by SpineUniverse.com showed that approximately 74 percent passengers paid extra for special seat that doesn’t give them back or neck pain. After a usual flight on United, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, or any of the other major carriers 88 percent of the passengers reported that they had back, neck or both neck and back pain during last year. The study disclosed that a usual vacationer is ready to pay out of his pocket for a more spine-friendly seat.
According to SpineUniverse.com survey up to $50 extra payment for comfortable seat is accepted to be paid by almost three-fourths of all airlines travelers and 20 percent of them are ready to pay up to $100 more for their comfort. SpineUniverse Director of Marketing during the survey in answer of very precise question related to flight travel it is discovered that lumbar support–or lack of it–and the headrests on airplane seats cause difficulty and suffer for head or neck pain sufferers.
In few time the air ticket and other charges increased dramatically. Travelers may disagree to pay extra charges for pillows, checking bags etc but when they are asked for extra charges for comfort of their spine they show their willingness to pay more. It is a new idea for airlines to attract more travelers by providing them comfortable journey.
